September 1989 : U Svegliu Calvese organizes a concert, at the request of the group "A Filetta", in San Ghjuvan Battistu cathedral, in Calvi's Citadel.

A Filetta are back from a stay in Sardinia, and the singers wish to extend their invitation to those from the village of Orosei, who received them so well. Corsican voices rise, harsh and tender, going from the purest tradition to the timid compositions in which they valiantly try, sure to write the tradition of tomorrow. Then, the Sardinian voices rise, powerful, raucous and roaring, like a rushing wave which breaks all the profane and sacred tradition of the sister island. Surprise and joy of the public, who discovers with both groups, the emotion resulting from this collective expression, rough and without artifice.
The Polyphonic Song Meetings were born in this way: from a first, lively and warm encounter, from a vocal expression in which the individual grew up from the place he occupied within the group, from a sound to sound exchange, note by note, which reveals the whole truth of a soul.
30 years later, A Filetta still welcomes guest groups, on the initiative of Svegliu Calvese, whether they come from Georgia, Reunion, Tibet, Brittany, or of course, Sardinia. The compositions have matured, they have grown, nourished, enriched by a thousand meetings. But the pleasure is always there to discover, in these voices, near or far, the primordial breath of man.
Because, as Henri Gougaud says: "More beautiful than themselves is the song of men. Nothing speaks more bravely of their destitution, their faith, their unsuspected greatness. "
